The Last Thing Before Death

In a recent conversation the topic of "How do you want to die?" came up. Unfortunately that was the wrong question, because most people would just answer "Peacefully, without any pain".

The real question should be, "What do you want to be doing when you die?"

For me

I wouldn't mind being out in nature, maybe hiking somewhere. Also if I could be helping someone when I die, just doing some good in world. These are the things I like to spend my time doing.

Things we don't want to be doing

On the other hand think about all the things that you spend so much time doing that wouldn't be the last thing you do before you die. Do you want to die while sitting at your desk in your boring job, watching some pointless TV show to fill in time or being mean and nasty to people?

As a guide

When we think about this question we can consider how we want to be spending our life. I know bucket lists are very trendy now. But those are the big things that should be included in a full life. We also need to consider all the little things too.
