One year has passed since I sold most of my possessions and moved to the other side of the world, following adventure and love.

As the modern saying goes, you have the same number of hours in your day as Beyoncé. Every morning we choose how to spend our next precious batch of hours - whether that be in a similar manner to the day before, or to set in motion new patterns.
Not only do we choose how to continue our existence, we choose to continue it in the first place. We choose life. We choose being.
Every morning I wake up and I remember that I am on the other side of the world. That I am three days travel from my mother. That I will always be an alien in my country of residence the moment I speak, and my accent gives me away. That I have a whole host of memories, customs and attitudes no one on this side of the world shares. In those times, I feel hopelessly stuck. And then I remember that I can choose.
By consciously choosing the manner in which we live we are accepting responsibility for our lives and our happiness. The wonderful thing is that you are never stuck. The awful thing is that you must choose. I hope this realisation empowers you.
