Gorgeous Story Bridge over the Brisbane River
Last year I was presented with the opportunity to participate in the Story Bridge Adventure Climb. Hubbies work was hosting a climb as a team building exercise, and since it was my birthday, they invited me to come along.
I must admit that there was a healthy amount of trepidation associated with this activity. It certainly did cross my mind more than once that I could just back out gracefully.
But opportunities like this don't present themselves everyday. The Story Bridge climb is 1 of only 3 such climbs anywhere in the world. And what a thing to do on one's birthday. So I went for it.
And what an adrenalin rush!!
It was scary... at first at least. But it didn't take long for the breath-taking views over the gorgeous river city of Brisbane, to distract me from my fears. It was hard work at times... especially on the climb to the apex. And I was made painfully aware of the fact that I have calf muscles for a good few days after the climb itself. But I wouldn't have swapped this experience for anything in the world.
Sometimes things are a little scary. Sometimes we are asked to step out of our comfort zones. Sometimes we have doubts.... about our abilities, about our commitment to the task at hand. But if we can just move past the fear and "do it anyway"... the rewards can be spectacular.
On top of the World
OH... and yeah... that is me and my man.... on top of the world!!!!
