It's very easy to go through our lives day after day, doing the things we need to do, some of the things we want to do, and not to notice some things. To notice the little details that make up our lives or complement our lives takes a degree of mindfulness.
We are hearing a lot about mindfulness at the moment. We all should be more mindful to reduce our stress. Mindfulness is shown to have mental and physical benefits for us all. We can learn how to do it. The list goes on.
It takes a commitment to be mindful. It means we need to give ourselves permission and set the scene for ourselves. We need to free our minds enough to engage with something new. By doing that and becoming more mindful we can then notice and appreciate the little things around us. It means we can live just for the moment, let go of the past and not allow ourselves to engage in a fuss about the future.
We notice the world around us, we feel more part of it, we fit in, we see our place in it. We can gain a sense of belonging to it. A right to be there. We can feel our body relax, as if easing into our surroundings. We can feel refreshed, gaining some new energy taken from the world around us.
