How I dealt with divorce at eight years old
To be honest, I didn't. It was horrible, hard, and a confusing time because my parents lived in seperate houses and I had to move schools.
In hindsight I feel like I appeared stronger than I was because I just buckled down and got on with it. Whilst my parents divorce was, in short, horrid, I discovered a love of cooking.
I suddenly had a spark of creativity, and recall countless times trying to make potato fries, home-made crisps and failed roast potatoes.
I also became a big fan of the omelette - they were so much fun to throw together, and incredibly easy to do.
I didn't realise it at the time, but cooking and baking was my way of dealing with stress, and funnily enough, now, I find the mood to bake strikes during times of stress.
You could argue that it was the silver lining of a very dark cloud, either way, cooking and baking lifted me up, and I now do it on a regular basis to bring joy to others.
