I often take work home with me, terrible, I know, but it is all too easy to bring work into your home life, or difficult to switch off.
I work in the press, so bringing work home with me is, almost automatic. I recently went on holiday, however and it was all too glorious to turn my phone off, leave my laptop at home and bask in the freedom that comes with leaving work at work.
I know everyone wants to be a success and you have to work hard to get to where you'd like to be, but sometimes you just have to switch off, and I mean completely switch off, just to stay sane!
That of course, is easier said than done, and I've seen my father even bring work on holiday with him because he wants to get it done.
Time, however, is precious and working 24/7 is a wasted life.
I know more than anyone how hard it is to turn your phone off, or simply ignore emails, but it is not good for the soul to constantly be on the go and available all the time. Me time and taking just a few days for yourself is essential for happiness - and sanity.
To stay inspired, happy, and to function properly, simply cut all ties with work at the weekend and have a good time. It is well worth it, and you'll be the happier for it.
